3-day Murchison Falls Safari Adventure

Day 1 – Rhino Tracking & Scenic Drive to Murchison Falls

Begin your Murchison Falls safari with a hotel pickup in Kampala or Entebbe. On the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an unforgettable walking rhino tracking experience. Continue the drive with lunch along the route and arrive at Red Chilli Rest Camp in Murchison Falls. Enjoy your first evening surrounded by nature.

Overnight: Red Chilli Rest Camp (or equivalent in same price range)

Day 2 – Game Drive & Boat Safari to the Falls

Start the day with a sunrise game drive in Murchison Falls NP. Spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and if lucky, big cats. After lunch, board a boat cruise along the Nile, heading towards the base of the iconic Murchison Falls. Witness the Nile explode through a 7-metre gorge.

Overnight: Red Chilli Rest Camp (or equivalent in same price range)

Day 3 – Visit the Top of the Falls & Return to Kampala

After breakfast, visit the Top of the Falls for dramatic views of the mighty Nile before starting the drive back to Kampala. Lunch en route, arrival in the evening.

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and largest national park. It’s home to over 76 species of mammals and 451 bird species. But what truly sets it apart is the sheer drama of the Nile squeezing through a 7-metre gap and plunging 43 metres down the rocks — the legendary Murchison Falls.

This park offers a rare combination of river, savannah and forest landscapes. It’s one of the few places in Africa where you can see the Big Five (including rhinos via Ziwa), cruise the Nile, and enjoy classic game drives — all within a 3-day journey.

The Story Behind Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary plays a vital role in restoring rhinos to Uganda’s wild. After the species became extinct in Uganda in the 1980s, Ziwa was founded as a safe space to protect and breed white rhinos. The sanctuary now houses over 30 rhinos and is the only place in the country where you can see them in their natural habitat — on foot.

This tour supports the work of Ziwa by including a guided rhino tracking experience. It’s not only thrilling, but also meaningful.
