We know planning a trip to East Africa can bring up lots of questions — and we’re here to answer them. So here is our list with frequently askes questions: From booking to wildlife, we’ve got you covered. Still can’t find what you’re looking for? Just get in touch — we’ll be happy to help.

Before You Travel

Yes. All three countries require a visa. Most travellers can apply online in advance. We recommend the East Africa Tourist Visa if you’re visiting multiple countries.

You can apply for your visa very easily through the following official websites:

Uganda: Uganda E-immigration System

Rwanda: Rwanda E-Visa Portal

Kenya: Kenya Online Portal for ETA

Yes. A Yellow Fever certificate is mandatory for entry. Make sure to bring your vaccination proof (in several countries, this is a yellow booklet).

Malaria is present in East Africa. We recommend discussing anti-malarial medication with your doctor before travel.

Bring your passport (valid at least 6 months), visa, flight confirmation, travel insurance and a copy of your Yellow Fever certificate.

Cash is widely accepted. Credit cards are only accepted at some hotels. You can withdraw local currency (UGX) at ATMs in larger towns.

Packing & Preparation

Pack light, breathable clothes, closed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a flashlight. A full list is on our ‘What to Pack’ blog.

Soft bags or duffel bags are preferred — they’re easier to pack in safari vehicles.

Almost all accommodations provide mosquito nets. If you’re camping, we’ll let you know if you need your own.

Yes. Most lodges offer laundry service at an additional cost.

During the Tour

It depends on the tour, but drives range from 2–6 hours per day, also depending on traffic, with plenty of stops along the way.

Most of our safari vehicles are not air-conditioned, but they are spacious, have windows that can be opened and  pop-up roofs for game viewing.

Yes, most vehicles and lodges have charging stations. We recommend bringing a power bank too.

Some lodges offer Wi-Fi, but it’s often slow. We recommend getting a local SIM card or E-SIM for better connectivity. You can also use our mobile hotspot during the tour.

Yes, we’re flexible. Just discuss it with your guide and we’ll do our best to adjust. Keep in mind that there may be some additional costs.

Accommodation & Travel

We offer ‘mid-range’ and ‘comfort for a budget price’ accommodation with private bathrooms. Upgrades are possible on request.

Yes, but a single supplement may apply. Let us know your preference.

Yes. We carefully select our partner lodges and hotels based on safety, hygiene and atmosphere.

Yes. Just let us know in advance and we’ll inform the lodges and hotels.

Yes. We have experience with travellers with gluten intolerance and celiac disease. Just let us know in advance and we’ll inform the lodges and hotels and make sure everything is gluten-free.

Yes, absolutely. Every tour includes airport transfers at the start and end of your trip. We’ll pick you up and drop you off at the airport that matches your itinerary. Everything is arranged in advance, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Yes. Our European support speaks Dutch, German, English and a little bit of French.

Yes, depending on availability. Gorilla permits require early booking, so contact us as soon as possible.

We are a direct tour operator, but we’re open to collaborations with agents.

Absolutely. Just tell us your interests, budget and travel dates — we’ll create something tailor-made.

Payments & Prices

You can pay via bank transfer (in EUR or USD). A deposit is required to confirm your booking.

Not at the moment. We’re working on it, but for now, only bank transfer.

Yes, we’re flexible. But payment must be in full at the start of the trip. We usually split it in two parts: deposit and final payment. 

Prices are listed per person, based on group size. Bigger groups usually get a better rate.

No. We’re transparent — the tour price includes everything listed. If something isn’t included, we’ll tell you clearly.

Safari & Wildlife

We’ll do our best, but wildlife is wild — no guarantees. Our guides know the best spots.

Yes. Our guides are trained and experienced. Listen to your guide’s instructions, especially near animals.

Yes! We arrange gorilla permits in Uganda and Rwanda. Let us know in advance — permits are limited.

Most activities are moderate, but hiking (like gorilla trekking) can be demanding. Let us know your fitness level.

We don’t offer standard group tours. Everything is personal, flexible, and tailored — with real connections to the land and people.
