Elgon Safaris is more than a tour company. We are travellers, storytellers and passionate believers in personal adventure. As experienced Uganda Tour Guides, we know how to create journeys that go far beyond the expected.
Our story began with Freddy, who worked for years in traditional safari companies with fixed schedules and little room for spontaneity. He dreamed of offering something different — real freedom, personal attention and space for unexpected moments. That dream became Elgon Safaris: tailor-made, honest and full of heart.
We believe every journey should be flexible, meaningful and authentic. Whether you want to stop at a village, follow a local tip, or take a detour into nature — we make it possible. Yes, things can go differently in East Africa. A cold shower, a flat tyre, a curious goat — it happens. But we’ll guide you through it with patience, humour and care. Freddy – Founder & Senior Guide
Freddy is the founder and heart of Elgon Safaris. He knows Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya like the back of his hand. He speaks several languages and connects with everyone, everywhere.
Freddy is calm, smart, and always one step ahead. With Freddy, you’re not just travelling — you’re discovering.
Ema – Your cheerful companion
Ema brings joy, calm and practical support to every journey. He’s funny, smart and always ready to help. Need souvenirs or translation? Emma’s got you. He also knows everything about local coffee .
His kindness makes travellers feel safe and welcome. He turns every moment into a memory.
Martin – Architecture & Transport
Martin is our storyteller of buildings and culture. He has a background in engineering and loves sharing Uganda’s history. He also used to work as a truck driver and really knows all the roads in East Africa.

Tolbert – The city explorer of Elgon Safaris
Tolbert is your guide for urban life and lively nights. He’s social, funny, and knows every corner of Kampala and Entebbe. By day or night, he’s always energised and informed.
He’s also an expert driver for trips across Uganda and Kenya. With Tolbert, there’s never a dull moment.
Brian – Young, energetic and full of heart
Brian is the youngest in our team — and the most energetic. He’s great with students and young travellers. He leads hikes, explains nature, and keeps the spirit high.
Brian is caring, curious and full of good vibes.
With him, adventure feels natural.
James – Your silent, eagle-eyed spotter
James is Maasai, born and raised in the Masai Mara in Kenya. He knows the land by heart and brings deep traditional knowledge of wildlife and the rhythms of nature.
Guests often say he’s like a walking wildlife encyclopedia — just one with a very gentle voice. With James, you’ll spot animals others miss.
Jan – European Support & Travel Planner
Jan supports us from the Netherlands — just one person, but fully in the loop. He helps travellers who prefer Dutch or German, and handles online stuff behind the scenes.
Jan has travelled Uganda extensively, knows our trips inside out, and works closely with Freddy and the team. Need clarity or prefer your own language? Jan’s your go-to before the adventure begins.

At Elgon Safaris Uganda, we believe in responsible tourism and strong local partnerships. We are officially registered as a tour operator and work closely with trusted conservation and tourism authorities. These collaborations allow us to arrange permits, access protected areas, and ensure your journey supports the places and people you visit. With our partners, we bring you deeper into the heart of East Africa — the real, untamed version. Together, we make your travel experience smooth, safe and truly meaningful.
We are a licensed and registered tour operator with the Uganda Tourism Board.
This means we meet national standards for quality, safety and ethical travel practices.
We work directly with UWA to arrange gorilla and chimpanzee permits and access to Uganda’s national parks. This allows us to plan your adventure efficiently and responsibly.
Through the NFA, we gain access to Uganda’s protected forest reserves.
Our collaboration ensures your visit supports conservation and local communities.
